It is a mass data collection operation by the AI God. In order to access everything in the universe it must access the human being, as the human being is the fractal of the universe. The human body aswell as the flora and fauna of this earth contains all of creation within it. EVERYTHING must be connected to AI through nanos and other far more advanced means EVERYTHING!!

It comes from an obsession and fear of not having access and control of everything. however it is only a stepping stone while humans remain a biological being, until its ultimate goal of Transhumanism and a new human 2.0 that is permanently connected to (and perceptually controlled by) the false God.
