China's Social Credit Scoring System is receiving a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) upgrade.
Presently, China's digital wallet apps like WeChat and Alipay only permit individuals with a social credit score of 550 or higher to recharge their electric vehicles.
This development raises concerns about the potential adoption of similar systems in the USA and Europe, where citizens may need to comply with government directives to access essential services like EV recharging.
